As you know, Thursday 7 March 2019 is World Book Day! As mentioned in the newsletter last term there will be lots of activities happening in school during the week in the lead up to Thursday. Here is an overview of the activities that are planned:-
We are asking all children to come dressed as their favourite book character on Thursday 7 March and pay a £1 donation – this donation will go towards new reading resources for the school, including a new outside reading area.
Parents in to read will be from 9am on this day instead of Friday 8 March 2019
Children to take a photo of themselves reading in a strange or unusual place – the winner will be announced during the assembly on Thursday. Please can these photos be sent into school by Wednesday 6 March at 4.00pm.
Children are going to be bringing home a wooden spoon this week for them to decorate as a book character (if you would like to use your own this would be lovely). These will go on display in school and a winner will be picked from each class on World Book Day – Please can these be in school first thing on Thursday 7 March ready for the assembly.
Next week will also be our launch of our new book swap shelf, this will be an area that children can bring in books that they no longer want to read and swap them for another book that someone else has finished with.
